Scouts who attend a minimum of three pack events over the summer will receive the National Summer Time Award for their rank. These award pins will be presented at the September pack meeting.
June Family Campfire/Campout
June 3 - June 4, 2016 -- Dakota County Parks, Sacajawea Campground
Please join us at our annual family campfire. Families are free to arrive at the campground anytime after 4:30pm. We will have two group campsites for those families wishing to bring their tents to spend the night under the stars. Families are asked to bring along a food item (dinner or dessert) to share with the group. The cost for the event will be announced in the Spring.
July 4 Parade
July 4, 2016 -- Apple Valley
Scouts are asked to wear their Class A uniform (blue uniform shirt and neckerchief) to provide a unified look. Parents are encouraged to wear a pack t-shirt if they have one. As in past years, the city will provide a flat bed semi-trailer. Scouts will ride the trailer, sing songs and wave to the crowd; adults will walk beside the trailer and throw candy to the crowd. BYOC (bring your own candy). The meeting time and location will be updated once details are released from Chief Black Dog district parade organizers. The meeting location is a "drop-off only" location, and parking is not available for participants. Pick-up occurs at the Apple Valley High School parking lot located on Hayes Road.
Don't forget to bring sunscreen and plenty of water to drink!
Summer Service Project
June 29, 2016 -- Feed My Starving Children, 6:00pm
We will be conducting our annual grounds cleanup at Easter Lutheran Church (by the Lake). Easter Lutheran Church provides our meeting space for pack and den events during the school year. This is one small way for us to say "thank you" and to help maintain a green environment. We will be cleaning up the grounds around the church as well as clearing loose branches and twigs from the memorial path. Once the cleanup has been completed, we will have the opportunity to hold a small bonfire to roast hotdogs and/or marshmallows. The "rainout date" should it be needed will be July 25, 2013 at 6:00 pm. Watch your email for more details!
Family Swim Day
Apple Valley Family Aquatic Center
August 14, 2016 -- 11:00am-2:00pm
It has become tradition to end the summer with a day relaxing at the pool. Families attend together and pay at the door. The cost of pool admission is $9.00/per person (children under 12 months are free). Look for the pack to gather on the east side of the pool deck (side between the concessions and water slides). You can bring a cooler full of snacks and beverages (no glass containers) or purchase snacks at the pool's concession stand. Don't forget your suncreen! While the pack gathering officially ends at 3:00, families are welcome to stay and enjoy the pool for the remainder of the day. To check on weather related closings, you can call the Apple Valley Parks and Recreation line at (952) 953-2399 and follow the prompts for the aquatic center.
